My adventure began one day when my mom and I went shopping for my school supplies for my new school. Whilst in the store, I asked my mom to purchase some story books for the children in the Village in Ghana and she told me that they first needed a school. I replied, "Mommy, why don't we start a kindergarten?" Mom said okay, but that it is was my responsibility and immediately I proceeded to purchase all the necessary supplies for a kindergarten. We left the store with six bags of goodies - all for the kindergarten.
I graduated from St. Mary's School as Valedictorian, received several scholarships to attend prominent High Schools but under the Prep 9 Program (an accelerated college program for minority students in New York State which offers the opportunity to attend prestigious boarding schools), I was accepted at St. Timothy's School. I was also commended for outstanding excellent performance in "Who's Who in America", published two poems in Young Poets of America and on the "Excellent Academic List" at Prep for Prep.
To date, the school is now built in Gowenu and I will continue to donate all my used school books, story books and clothes. I have lobbied in the past for donations at my Junior School and will continue to spread the word. My desire is to see more smiles on the many faces as the children learn to read and write and I hope that they will be able to experience the joys of family relationship. Wherever my academic pursuits and career may take me, I intend to continue to work for this worthy cause along with my parents.
