My name is Shirley Clarke, and I am the eldest child in a family of seven, born to the parents of Lennox Grant and Sybil Grant of Pleasantville, Trinidad. Under my parents’ strict guidance, my siblings and I were reared in a close-knit, religious environment. I migrated to the United States of America approximately 40 years ago with my husband and have been residing in Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey from then until now. My husband and I have been married for 41 years and our marriage produced three wonderful children; Winfield, 39, Sherard, 29, and Shoronda 27. Being committed to the family, I stayed at home to nurture and rear my children during their early childhood years.
Since I enjoy working with the elderly, I secured a position in the healthcare industry as a Nurse’s Aid and continue to work in that capacity. I have a great love for cooking and possess natural culinary skills, consequently, most of my pastime is spent cooking and entertaining my family and friends, especially around the holidays.
I currently serve on the Board of Loving Hands of Hope as Assistant Treasurer and will continue to contribute to this worthy cause in whatever way I can.
